Unless told otherwise by a member of the Release Section, all personnel reporting to this Section are required to wear the appropriate uniform or civilian attire. Under no circumstances are members permitted to wear the following: jeans, PT shorts, t-shirts or open-toed sandals.

For pers entitled to an immediate annuity, the minimum time required for release notification is 30 days prior to last working day.
For pers not entitled to an immediate annuity, example: less than 20 yrs of Reg F svc, the minimum time required for release notification is six months. A six month waiver may be entertained but is subject to CO and Career Manager (CM) approval.
Info Brief (to book appointment – call 613-996-1044)
Pers are highly encouraged to request the Info Brief where pertinent Release info and guidance is provided. Members will also be provided with the "Before You Go" booklet, their leave balance, pension printout, estimate of Severance Pay or Retirement Leave calculation and Cash-out. All amounts are estimates and are subject to audit.
Move to Intended Place of Residence (IPR) will also be discussed at the Info Brief. It is very important that the member indicates whether or not they are planning to move immediately on Release.
In addition to the "Info Brief", pers will be required to attend two Release appointments (Part I and Part II) with the Release Section prior to Release. The Release Section will contact the member directly to schedule the Part I and Part II appointments.
Part I - (Approx 20 days prior to your Release date)
During the Part I Release Appointment several forms will be signed in addition to discussing the following topics:
- Severance/Rehabilitation (transfer to RRSP etc)
- Certificate of Service and Record of Service
- Move to Intended Place of Residence (IPR)
- Transfer to Reserve (PRes, SUPP RES)
- OHIP paperwork
- Explanation of pay
- Allotments
- Last regular pay to bank
- Pension Forecast
- 1st pension cheque
- Cashout of leave
Additionally, pers will be informed to pick up a pension package at the Constitution Bldg. It is very important to understand that current banking arrangements or deductions from pay will not automatically carry to pension. All paperwork for pension must be completed.
The member will be given a Clearance sheet at this appointment. All areas including PASS CONTROL must be cleared prior to the Part II appointment. As well, all other clearances such as Medical, Dental and Clothing must be completed prior to your Part II appointment.

Members are strongly encouraged to get a copy of outstanding kit from Supply so as to be better prepared for the kit return portion of the clearances.
Part II (Last working day)
Copies of all release paperwork and Service Will to be given to member.
Member will receive any monies owed in the form of a cheque.
Member must return their TD2, ID card, Blue Cross card (only on cashout) and Clearance sheet.
